What Swing is all about...

Hi! We’re Kaoutar and Fatima Ezzahra!

We’re 22 so that makes us one of those millennials. And let’s admit that us millennials, tend to think we are the main character of a very special destiny. We easily fall in love with dazzling success stories from people who seem to have it all figured out. We cherish their glorious moments and fail to see that those are simply the outcome of blood, sweat and tears. (Vikings style 😉 )

We usually chase the easy way out to get where we want. But the thing is, there is actually NO easy way out. The world is such a hard place to live in; and building one’s life with a fulfilling career is definitely not that easy of a thing (Quite the bummer, we know). And the quicker we realize it, the more time we’re gonna save ourselves.
People often think of working hard as a binary concept. Either you do it, or you don’t.

When in reality, it’s more like this.

So basically, as simple as it sounds: the harder/smarter you work, the more outcome you’re gonna get.
And when we talk about “working hard”, we definitely don’t mean: try once- fail- quit. Because things NEVER work out the way we want them to on the first try. And when they do, it’s purely coincidental, so don’t take it as a general rule. You can’t love it just when it’s convenient. The truest meaning of “working hard” is taking it all in, the good with the bad. There is no other way. (Quite the bummer again, we know).
Over the years, we came to the realization that most people don’t like the process and in fact, find it quite hard. And that’s why here at Swing, we value hard work. We strongly believe that sacrifices (of both time and effort) along with real involvement are the most crucial pillars when you’re striving results. I mean, when you choose to spend your entire weekends hustling over going out with friends. Sacrifice. While your peers are sleeping, you’re up late at night planning and lining up orders that need to be shipped first thing in the morning. Again sacrifice. When some random person makes endless comments about how girls are not qualified to be entrepreneurs. Neglect it. Act deaf. Keep working. Because actions DO speak louder than words. When your small bedroom becomes your office, your workshop, your warehouse and your photo shoot studio. Not convenient, but it doesn’t need to be.
To end this on a positive note, here are a couple of bullet points that has helped us so far during this journey:
1) Embrace ambition.
As hard as the world is, it is filled with multiple and great opportunities that are waiting to be seized. So go ahead, be ambitious, but know that ambition alone does not move mountains.
2) Work hard.
There is no fancier way to say it, working hard is tough. You can sit all day long looking for inspiration in uplifting articles, but unless you take action and make stuff happen, you won’t be going anywhere.
3) Stay optimistic.
Because if there is something we believe in, it is that the second you lack optimism, it’s game over. Of course you’re allowed to have moments of doubt and frustration, listen to those emotions, just don’t let them take full control of the situation.
4) Ditch perfectionism.
As two professional perfectionists ourselves, believe us when we say: let go of the “try too hard to perfect it” because it’s just holding you back. Introduce your thing to the world and improve it with time.
